Item Description
This is a beautiful vintage Mexican folk art "Botijo" (also known as a Cántaro) clay water jug, hand-crafted in the famous pottery hub of Tonalá, Jalisco, Mexico.
This traditional vessel features a rounded body, a large stylized central loop handle, a wide top opening for filling, and a classic side spout for pouring/drinking.
It is beautifully hand-painted using organic slip pigments in a traditional color palette of terracotta rust, cream white, and dark charcoal grey. The body is adorned with charming dotted floral patterns, and the handle features geometric folk leaf motifs. The underside features a hand-incised "MEXICO" mark. A wonderful addition to any Southwestern, rustic Mexican pottery, or rustic farmhouse decor.
