This is a stunning vintage rectangular planter/window box made in Italy. Crafted from very heavy, solid terra cotta, it features a thick white glaze and is decorated with an elegant, raised acanthus leaf motif along the sides. Over years of use, the white glaze has chipped and worn away in various spots, revealing the warm, rustic red clay underneath. This natural distressing gives the piece an incredibly authentic shabby chic and weathered appearance. Condition Authentic vintage, distressed condition with significant cosmetic wear that adds to its rustic appeal. There are numerous chips and areas of flaking to the white glaze throughout the piece, fully exposing the underlying terra cotta clay. The glazed surface also exhibits allover crazing. Due to prior use, there are visible dirt marks, stains, and mineral deposits on both the inside and outside. There is a drainage hole at the bottom. The stamp "MADE ITALY" is clearly visible on the inside bottom surface. There are no major structural cracks or repairs. It is incredibly sturdy and heavy.
