Up for sale is a truly unique and charming piece of vintage tableware: a Vintage Crystal Glass Round Covered Butter Dish (Butter Cloche) featuring a rare chiming bell inside the lid, dating back to around the 1950s–1960s.

This beautiful two-piece set consists of a heavy, round underplate and a domed lid decorated with a brilliant Pinwheel pattern and frosted floral/leaf intaglio cuts that catch and refract the light magnificently. A stunning focal point is the notched hexagonal pyramidal finial (handle) on top, featuring beautifully even notches cut along each of its six crisp edges.

The most extraordinary feature of this piece is a small metal bell securely attached to the inside center of the domed lid with a clear, silicone-like adhesive. Whenever you lift or move the lid, the bell rings with a beautiful, crystal-clear, and pleasant chime. This was a whimsical feature sometimes found in mid-century novelty glassware to elegantly call for service at the dining table.

It can be used traditionally as a high-end butter keeper, a cheese cloche, a pastry display dome, or simply as an enchanting conversation piece for your vintage kitchen decor.
