Vintage Chinese Dragon Plate | Hand-Painted in Hong Kong | 5-Claw Dragon Motif

A spectacular vintage decorative plate, hand-painted in Hong Kong circa the 1960s-1980s.

The dynamic design features two powerful, five-clawed dragons—one blue, one yellow—chasing the flaming pearl of wisdom. The five-clawed dragon was a symbol reserved for the Emperor of China, representing the highest degree of power and good fortune. This classic motif is known as "Two Dragons Chasing the Pearl."
The entire piece is finished with a striking crackle glaze (crazing) that creates a web of fine lines across the surface, adding a wonderful sense of depth and antique character. The vibrant hand-painted colors and gold-colored accents stand out beautifully against the glaze. The reverse side bears a blue maker's seal mark.
