Vintage Balinese Wood Carving Frog Prince Mantri Godogan Princess Statue Folk Art

This is a rare, vintage Balinese hand-carved and hand-painted wooden sculpture depicting a dramatic scene from the traditional Balinese folktale, "Mantri Godogan" (The Frog Prince).

Unlike common, static souvenirs, this exceptionally rare piece features both the Frog Prince and the Princess sharing a single lotus pedestal, frozen in a moment of intense emotional conflict. The Princess, adorned in traditional Balinese royal attire with a beautifully patterned blue sarong and red bodice, is holding a small red object (symbolizing a mystical dragonfly or fruit linked to the prince's curse) in her left hand. With her right hand, she is forcefully pushing back or slapping the frog’s cheek in fear and disgust. The cursed Frog Prince, heavily decorated with traditional floral motifs and the sacred black-and-white "Poleng" cloth pattern on his body, desperately grips her arm, pleading for her acceptance to break his wicked spell.
