Vintage 1969 Japanese Live Edge Wood Vase Hand Turned Bark Nikko Art Pencil Hold
This is a unique vintage Japanese hand-turned studio wood rustic vase/multi-holder, crafted in Nikko, Japan, in 1969. It features a striking contrast between the rugged, natural live-edge tree bark in the center and the smooth, beautifully finished top and bottom. While it was likely originally designed as a "Chazutsu" (tea caddy), it is now missing its lid. However, this creates a wide opening that makes it absolutely perfect for use as a rustic flower vase, a brutalist pen/pencil holder for a desk, or a stand-alone mid-century Wabi-Sabi interior decor piece. The bottom bears a charming hand-carved inscription: "Odo Black Nikko 1969.9.29," making it a truly one-of-a-kind historical souvenir.
