Up for sale is a highly collectible, vintage Coleman Model 200A Red Lantern, manufactured in June 1963 (6/63). This is a classic single-mantle gas lantern, iconic to American camping history.
This specific unit features the desirable "White Border" Coleman decal on the fount. It comes complete with its original Red Letter PYREX globe (made in the USA for Coleman) and a unique, rustic handmade vintage wooden carrying case with character-rich "SMITH" stenciling on the side. - Mechanical Status: UNTESTED. This lantern is being sold As-Is for parts, repair, or display only. It has NOT been tested with fuel, and no pressure check or light check has been performed. The fuel valve knob and cleaning lever both turn smoothly.
- Lantern Body: Shows beautiful vintage patina. The ventilator has a few minor porcelain chips on the top screw area and outer rim (visible in photos), but the underside is clean. The red fount (tank) has some paint loss and scratches along the bottom rim and body, but NO major dents. The "White Border" decal remains mostly intact.
- Globe: Excellent vintage condition. The original Red Letter PYREX logo is sharp and clear. NO cracks, NO chips.
- Wooden Case: Shows heavy exterior cosmetic wear, scratches, and a weathered look which adds great vintage character. The top latch and rear hinges have surface rust/oxidation but are fully functional. The case holds and protects the lantern securely.
