Vintage 1930s Tudor Tile Occasional Table Wood Side Nightstand Whittier CA
Up for auction/sale is an exceptionally rare and beautiful piece of Southern California history: an authentic Vintage circa 1930s California Tile Top Occasional Side Table.
This table features a stunning 4-tile centerpiece showcasing an exquisite Spanish-Moorish geometric and arabesque pattern. The color palette is the quintessential California look of the golden era—vivid teal green, cobalt blue, warm terracotta orange, and soft cream. Based on the signature flat-surface glaze technique with fine, uniform black silk-screened outlines, these tiles are highly attributed to the renowned Tudor Potteries (or its contemporary competitor, D.&M. Tile Co.), which operated in the nearby Vernon district of Los Angeles.
Remarkably, the underside still retains its original vintage paper dealer label from the historic "Lackey Furniture Co. from Whittier, CA". This geographical connection provides incredible provenance, as Whittier is just a short drive from where Tudor tiles were produced during the 1920s-1930s boom. The sturdy wooden frame features beautiful, ornate turnings and carvings on the legs, making it a perfect accent piece, nightstand, or plant stand with unmatched character.
