Tonalá Style Mexican Folk Art Nativity Set with Glass House

This nativity set is handcrafted and decorated in Tonalá, Jalisco, Mexico, a region renowned for its traditional ceramic craftsmanship. The set includes 14 pieces representing the traditional nativity scene characters (Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, the Three Wise Men, shepherds, an angel, sheep, and other animals).
Production process: Each figure is first handmade in clay and fired in a wood-burning oven at low temperature, then hand-painted with acrylic paint and meticulously decorated. The figurines feature white clay bodies with gold decorative accents and painted details. They possess a rustic, endearing quality with simple forms and charming facial expressions. Several of the holy figures display small gold halos attached above their heads. Each character stands between 1.25 and 3 inches tall (approximately 3.2-7.6 cm).
The set comes with a house-shaped display case made of glass with a metal frame, which beautifully showcases the nativity scene while protecting the collection from dust.
