Hubley Cast Iron Cat Coin Bank #820 c.1920s–30s Original Vintage USA
This bank features the correct early Hubley mold number "820", visible inside the casting. This mold number is a key identifier used by collectors to confirm original Hubley production from the late 1920s to early 1930s, and is not typically found on later reproductions or simplified post-war molds.
In addition, the original enamel paint displays natural alligatoring (alligator crackle)—a distinctive aging characteristic caused by thick period enamel applied over cast iron, combined with decades of temperature and humidity changes. This type of organic, uneven crackling cannot be convincingly replicated on modern reproductions.
Later copies often show uniform finishes or artificial surface distressing, whereas this example exhibits irregular crack depth, paint shrinkage, and oxidation visible beneath areas of paint loss—strong indicators of authentic early Hubley manufacture.
Approx. Size
5"H × 3.5"W × 3"D
