Antique Tile Top Table Sterling Furniture Santa Monica/Taylor Style California

Sale price$200.00

Rare Antique Tile Table by Sterling Furniture Co. , dated circa 1927-1934 , representing the California Tile Movement and West Coast Art Deco era.

The tabletop features four brightly colored tiles in striking orange, green, and black contrast , strongly reminiscent of works attributed to Santa Monica Tile or Taylor Tile workshops of the late 1920s-early 1930s.

The table retains its solid wooden frame with turned legs. Wear, scratches, and surface distress are consistent with age. One tile shows a fine hairline crack, yet remains stable and does not affect use.

This Sterling × Santa Monica/Taylor attributed combination is rare on the market and highly sought after among collectors of California tile and Art Deco furnishings.

  • Dimensions: approx. 17.5" × 17.5" × 10.5"H (44.5 × 44.5 × 26.5 cm)

  • Weight: 11.9 lb (5.4 kg)

  • Tile size: approx. 6" × 6" (15 × 15 cm each)

  • Branded Sterling mark on underside

  • Estimated production: c.1927-1934 (approx. 90-100 years old)

Condition:

The original putty / setting material that holds the tiles in place has aged and deteriorated in some areas. A small portion has turned powdery, and if the table is lifted and gently shaken, you can hear a slight rattling sound from inside.

At this time, all tiles remain securely attached to the table and none are loose or detached. The issue is internal deterioration of the original setting material due to age.

Wear, scratches, and surface distress are consistent with age. One tile shows a fine hairline crack, yet remains stable and does not affect use.
