Antique Duncan Phyfe Mahogany Drop Leaf Side Table Pembroke Oval 1920s
■ DESCRIPTION
This is a truly exceptional, authentic 1920s–1930s antique American Federal / Duncan Phyfe style mahogany Pembroke drop-leaf side table. This museum-quality piece exhibits the pinnacle of early 20th-century American cabinetmaking, preserved in remarkable condition.
A true collector’s find, the table features 100% original period-correct slotted (flat-head) screws with a gorgeous aged patina—not a single modern Phillips screw or replacement can be found. The single front drawer boasts exquisite, fine-pin antique dovetail joints, reflecting high-end hand-crafted precision. Underneath, the drop-leaf hinges are meticulously flush-mounted into hand-mortised recesses in the wood, and the leaves are supported by classic wooden pivot swing arms rather than mass-produced metal brackets.
Adorned with its original ornate solid brass bail pull handle and elegant slender square tapered legs, this versatile piece functions beautifully as a compact living room end table, an entryway console, or a sophisticated bedroom nightstand.
