Up for sale is a remarkably robust and rare style of antique manual box coffee grinder, dating back to the turn of the 20th century. This unique specimen features a heavy cast-iron assist handle mounted on the side, providing extra leverage and stability to hold the mill firmly while grinding.
The top bean hopper features a unique screw-on metal cap lid, a rare and secure design variant. The ornate cast-iron crank handle is beautifully embellished with an embossed Art Nouveau floral/scrolling pattern, reflecting the fine craftsmanship of the late 1890s to 1910s. The wooden box is constructed with tight, machine-cut finger joints (box joints), showcasing the high manufacturing standards of prominent makers of the era (such as Arcade or Enterprise).
While there are no visible manufacturer stamps or logos, its exceptional hardware, unique side-handle layout, and stunning antique character make it a highly collectible piece. Perfect for rustic farmhouse kitchen decor, country store displays, or antique coffee enthusiasts!

Condition
  • Overall: Authentic antique / vintage pre-owned condition with excellent rustic appeal. Structures are tight and sound.
  • Woodwork: Shows honest wear consistent with age, including small scuffs, minor chips/splinters on the upper edge of the drawer front and top corners. No major splits or structural wobbles.
  • Metal Parts: The cast-iron components show a beautiful time-worn dark patina, surface oxidation (rust), and minor pitting. The handle turns smoothly.
  • Interior: The grinding burrs have surface rust and old residue from decades of storage. Sold primarily as a gorgeous decorative/display piece, but can be fully restored with a deep wire-brush cleaning.
