Antique Beshir Style Ersari Rug 58x42 Boteh Paisley Tribal Afghan Turkmen 1900s

Sale price$450.00

This is a remarkable early 20th-century tribal rug from the Central Asian/Afghan borderlands. While the "Boteh" (paisley) all-over pattern draws inspiration from classical Persian Hamadan aesthetics, the technical structure—particularly the dark undyed wool warps and the specific weave—strongly aligns with the Beshir (Ersari Turkmen) tradition.

This piece is a cultural hybrid, capturing a moment in history when nomadic tribal craftsmanship met the elegant floral designs of the Silk Road trade routes.

Size and Weight

  • Dimensions: Approx. 58"L x 42"W

  • Weight: 5.9 lbs (Approx. 2.68 kg)

Materials

  • 100% Hand-spun Natural Wool.

  • Texture: It has the classic "dry and firm handle" of a true antique. Over a century of oxidation has left the wool feeling crisp and sturdy, much like aged linen or hemp.

Condition

Authentic Antique / Heavily Distressed. This rug shows its age beautifully. There is significant pile wear, frayed selvedges, and loss to the fringes as shown in the high-resolution photos. We have chosen to keep it in its original, un-restored state to preserve its soul and historical integrity.
