Up for sale is a beautifully weathered, one-of-a-kind terra cotta clay planter. The base pot is a classic PR Imports, Inc. model V9 (SKU 576-494), originally handmade by local artisans in Tecate, Mexico.
The History & Art behind this pot:
- The Base Model (V9): This specific model features traditional Mexican scroll and circle relief carvings. It was a staple in major US garden centers through the 2010s but has since been discontinued as production shifted toward minimalist, modern "Euro-style" plain pots (like the V9-e).
- The Aging Process: To elevate its character, this pot was intentionally buried underground post-purchase to accelerate its natural weathering process. This custom technique allowed organic soil tones and rustic micro-textures to settle perfectly within the carved grooves.
The result is a stunning, premium vintage-style patina that looks like a centuries-old European or Mexican garden relic. Made from authentic heavy-duty Tecate clay—famous for being the strongest in Mexico—it features a gorgeous rosy-red undertone. It is exceptionally thick, durable, and ready to showcase high-end specimens like Agaves, Cacti, Bonsai, or Succulents.
Features the original maker's stamp on the bottom: "HANDMADE IN MEXICO by Rodriguez PR IMPORTS" along with the factory label.
